BBQ Ribs
Malibu Grill - (San Jose/Camden Ave.) Absolutely THE BEST BBQ ribs that I have been able to find yet! We have tried most every place in Northern California, and we always come back to Malibu as the best.Pizza
A Slice of New York - (San Jose/Stevens Creek Blvd. between Winchester and San Tomas Expy.) This is the closest I have found to New York style pizza in the South Bay. It is a small place with a few bar stools to eat there. They sell pizza by the slice, but I noticed a lot of people picking up to go orders and taking their very large pizzas home to eat. Being kind of a “pizza connoisseur”, I would recommend checking this place out!
Family Style Italian
Giorgios Pizzeria -(San Francisco/Clement St.) I know this is a bit far for us South Bay folks, but if you happen to be in San Francisco and want a fabulous pizza, this is your spot. Try the Antipasto Salad and the Calzone B (add mushrooms if you like them). You can’t go wrong!

Aldo’s Ristorante & Bar - (Los Gatos/N. Santa Cruz Ave.) I received a recommendation from Collen Wagner for this restaurant. She takes her family here for special occasions and they love it.Value Sushi
Ariake Sushi Boat - (San Jose/Blossom Hill Blvd.) While this may not be the “best” Japanese food around, they do have a very unique and large sushi menu, and at a very good price. We tend to get the food to-go because the atmosphere there is very loud and busy. But we have found their sushi unique, consistent, reasonably priced and quite good.Yum Yum Fish - (San Francisco/Irving St.) This is a little hole-in-the-wall place with only 3 tables in it, but the sushi is good, cheap and it’s fresh! If you are lucky enough to find a table you can eat it there, otherwise plan on getting your order to go.
Sandwiches
The Sandwich Mill - (San Jose/Kooser Rd.) I LOVE a good sandwich! I really like to support the family run business’ if possible and I stumbled across this little gem. They have wonderful large deli sandwiches and falafels. The people that run the place are always so friendly and the food is very good. Make this your next stop when you want a good sandwich.Send me your recommendations so I can add them to this list!
