Your Skin
What are you doing to prevent and repair skin damage? There are many things that you can do... applying sun screen daily is probably the most important. But there are other things that you can do, some of them actually repairing damage that you have already caused to your skin. If you can remember the word “ACE”, then you are on the right track! Make sure that you have vitamins A, C and E in your daily diet and in the creams that you put on your skin and you will be giving your skin a tremendous advantage. Check your skin care products ingredients lists and make sure that A, C and E are included in your creams, serums or lotions. Then, make sure that you apply them daily.Another must for your skin is exfoliation. Every day we lose dead skin cells, shedding them continuously throughout the day. Having these dead cells on our face and body can give your skin a very dull appearance. You can assist in shedding these cells by exfoliating your skin daily with a lightly abrasive exfoliant. Use it in the shower on your face and other exposed skin areas on your body, and you will immediately see the difference in the glow of your skin. Make sure that you are using an exfoliant with round beads as the scrub. Using some of the home-made remedies, such as chopped almonds or walnuts, can be very rough on your skin because the exfoliant is not smooth and round.
Using a mesh bath sponge is another great way to exfoliate your body. It works best with a bit of bath gel drizzled on it. I wouldn’t use it with an exfoliant cream or scrub.

At the salon that I work at, Sirena-Scena in Los Altos, CA, we carry products that can assist you with this skin care regimen (Jan Marini Skin Care, Scena Oceanic Poppyseed Scrub). If you would like any information about these products, please contact me and I will gladly assist you.
